Course Details

Running Surfaces: Blacktop, concrete and dirt.

Running Terrain: City street, paved shoulder, highway, campus streets and walking paths.

Lovington Elevaton: 3700 FT
Hobbs Elevation: 3500 FT

Marathon Route: Flat with slight rise and fall along highway 18 between Lovington and hobbs.

Half-marathon, 10K, 5K Routes: Very Flat.

Packet Pickup

Packet pick-up times and locations are:

  • Friday in Hobbs at the Western Heritage Museum from 10:00am-5:00pm
  • Friday evening at Lea County Museum's Town Hall located at 114 E. Central St. Lovington, N.M. from 6:30-8:30pm (during the pasta dinner)
  • Saturday before the race
    • Marathon and marathon-relay runners can pick up their packets at the race start in Lovington from 5:00-5:50 am
    • All other runners at the race start in Hobbs from 6:30-7:55am

Full Marathon

The full marathon event starts at 6:00am at the Lea County Museum in Lovington, N.M. and finishes at the Western Heritage Museum in Hobbs, N.M. Transportation from Hobbs to Lovington will be provided for marathon runners living or staying in Hobbs.

Marathon runners are to meet at the Western Heritage Museum. The bus leaves at 5:00am.

The course winds through Lovington's Chaparral Park then south on New Mexico Highway 18 to Hobbs. It circles Ocotillo Golf Course and joins the walking path along Highway 18, turns into the campus of New Mexico Junior College, and finishes at the Western Heritage Museum. There will be hydration stations with water and gatorade every mile. Power gels and snacks bars are provided occasionally along the route. Portable facilities are placed approximately every two miles along the course. The event is supported by Hobbs and Lovington race marshalls, EMS personnel, and numerous volunteers.

Half Marathon

The half-marathon event starts at 8am at the Western Heritage Museum on the New Mexico Junior College campus in Hobbs, New Mexico. The course follows the walking path north on the west side of New Mexico Highway 18, to Ocotillo Golf Course, circles Ocotillo, rejoins the walking path along Highway 18, goes south before re-entering the HMJC campus, and finishing in front of the Western Heritage Museum.

Hydration stations with water and gatorade are located every race mile. Portable facilities are placed along the course.

5K and 10K

The 5K and 10K events start at 8am. Both the 5K and 10K follow a clockwise route on a new walking path on the west side of New Mexico Highway 18. The course travels north, south, and then north again. Mile markers will be clearly posted and the finish line is at the Western Heritage Museum. Hydration water stations and portable facilities are conveniently located along the courses.
